All round perfect My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and everything was perfect, beautiful, rustic and quirky decor, beautiful garden and stunning views a 5 min walk from little waterfall. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with lovely little touches, the breakfast was by far the best we've had from a hotel, everything here has been so well thought out with the guests satisfaction the top priority. The cherry on the cake for us was that the hosts Robin and Jane are 2 of the most lovely and welcoming people we have met, nothing was to much trouble for them and we shall be visiting again soon.

Hidden beauty We stayed one night at this lovely B&B. Robin made us feel very welcome. The firecat room is nice with an enormous amount of antique furniture. Bed very comfortably and the bathroom modern with a superb shower. The room has coffee & tea facilities with fresh milk in a small fridge. Not only is Robin a friendly host but also good chef. We decided to have our evening meal at the B&B which was beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients. It’s definitely not cheap, comparable with high end city prices. Breakfast very nice and again top presentation. The B&B is set on the banks of the River Dyfi and some spectacular walks nearby. Lots of wildlife and the B&B have their own huge amount of nesting house martins. If you are planning a trip to the Snowdonia National Park I would recommend you stay with Robin.

A hidden gem and absolute must visit for dinner. Simply just wow. If you want some of the best food in Wales, this is a hidden gem. I first heard about this BnB when looking for a place to stay for a friend. We didn't stay in the end but when looking for a restaurant for my 1 year anniversary, I remembered they had an amazing menu so I gave them a call to see if we could book dinner as non guests, which I was delighted to hear we could (please note this depends entirely on if they have a free bedroom in the BnB as restaurant guests need to use that bathroom, so always call in advance and they can block a room). Everything was honestly perfect. The setting is stunning, the BnB even more stunning. We were greeted by the fantastic Jane who took us to the lounge area and ran us through the wines. We had the room to ourselves (private dining) and the fire was lit. We were then moved to the table and each course was brought out by Robin, carefully explaining the ingredients in the dish, with Jane popping in to see how we were getting on in between. The food was INCREDIBLE. Robin is an incredible chef, with amazing presentation skills. I had the beef fillet for my main and all I can say is each mouthful gave me the biggest smile on my face. We ended it with port and a cheeseboard which was perfect (I was stuffed by this point so took most the cheese home to enjoy the next day). The atmosphere was great. They have done such a great job on creating a cozy and rustic place that fits perfectly with it's natural surroundings. Lighting was lovely and they had vinyl in the background. It's not cheap, however I felt given the experience and quality, it was worth every penny. Robin and Janes hospitality was first class. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply want an amazing meal and great service, I'd really encourage you to book.

A unique hidden gem in the heart of Wales Wow...such an amazing experience from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. A beautiful country house with so much character and warmth. Everything about our stay was wonderful, the atmosphere, the scenery, and the warm welcome we received. You can really feel the charm and history of The Fire Cat, and it makes for such a relaxing and memorable getaway. Robin and Jane go above and beyond to make your visit so special. Our room was cosy and immaculately clean, with a beautifully comfortable four poster bed. All our meals were definitely a 5-star. Robin is a true perfectionist when it comes to presentation, and the flavours are simply out of this world. I have experienced fine dining all around the world, and I can honestly say Robin's food is definitely on par with the very best. The surroundings are absolutely breathtaking and make it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. We left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to returning. We highly recommend to anyone looking for a special escape in a truly beautiful setting. Kerrie & Jason

Exceptional dining, beautiful location, great hosts Stayed at this beautiful farmhouse in December 2025. Lovely welcome from the hosts Robin and Jayne. The property dates back to the fifteenth century, retaining its character with a beautiful inglenook fireplace with a large log burner which was always roaring. The bedroom we stayed in was so cosy with a large and comfortable four poster bed and delightful en suite. The food was first class, so good that we dined there for both nights of our stay. Robin is very passionate about his cooking and the presentation and flavours were exceptional. It was a nice touch that Robin introduced each course with a detailed description of the ingredients and where they were sourced. The location is stunning, surrounded by mountains and we will undoubtedly be returning in the summer to sample the amazing food and welcome.

Firecat stunning Food experience and the most amazing hosts, My wife and I stayed at Firecat at the end of November, and I cant recommend enough. As a Chef working at rosette and Michelin level establishments, I find it quite difficult to eat out, well not any more the Firecat is now my go to, from the amazing Welsh breakfast with cockles and lava, perfect poached eggs and fresh sourdough bread...definitely a stand out..I had it everyday . And that was just the start of it, everything was locally sourced and seasonal, Then the dinner....just wow, the plumpest king scallop, beautifully seared, balanced with a bernaise sauce cooked to perfection 👌..then we were spoilt with Welsh black beef fillet, again fantastic, cooked exactly 💯 on point, vegetables were clearly picked that day from the grounds, balanced with deglaised pan juices, paired with a stunning chianti, at this point I didnt want it to stop, ...bread and butter pudding with a lavender and tellicherry black pepper icecream, definitely a stand out dish. Then stunning locally sourced cheese board raw honey , fresh rosemary and port. In my opinion Firecat deserves at least 3 Rosettes. And the accommodation is 5 star. Set in the snowdonia national park, you couldn't find a more beautiful area to explore. We will be back for more.

Old Welsh charm & character, wrapped in Cashmere... Outstanding If you're lucky enough to secure one of the 3 rooms at this glorious 15th century cottage, which is the Firecat Country House B&B. I urge you to grab the opportunity with both hands. Robin & Jane have crafted an experience slightly off the beaten track that promises and delivers rural Wales embodied with a touch of luxury. From the *OUTSTANDING* seasonally & lovingly prepared local foods to the careful attention to detail within the rooms. Guests will find their delight of comfort and palette are at the top of the Firecats priority list. We will definitely be returning! To be able to drift off to sleep, listening to the gentle meandering of the river interspersed with the odd Pheasants call is a treat I can't wait to have circled on my calendar once more.

An unforgettable experience and amazing food An unforgettable experience My friend and I had the pleasure of staying with Robin and Jane at their wonderful B&B for 3 days – and it was nothing less than magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, kindness and a hospitality that went straight to our hearts. The place is located in the most idyllic setting, surrounded by majestic mountains and a small river. And when we arrived, we instantly fell in love with The Firecat. And we had not even met Jane, Robin and his amazing food yet. Every morning we were spoiled with the most delicious breakfast, far beyond what we had expected – homemade, flavorful and served with love and pride. In the evening, Robin worked his magic in the kitchen and served gourmet meals that invited all of our taste buds to the party. His creativity and ability to present the food beautifully and invitingly was impressive, and the quality was absolutely top class. It was clear, why he has won awards – it was a taste experience beyond the ordinary. And it was served with an intelligent and humorous conversation regarding cooking and countless other topics. The fireplace and candles created the perfect atmosphere. We can highly recommend a stay with Robin and Jane. It's not just a place to stay – it's an experience you take home with you in your heart. When we left them, we felt that we said goodbye to our friends - not strangers, we had only known for 3 days. Thank you Jane and Robin. We will meet again.
